    Project Information

The materials represented in this project were collected over the years by the Dublin Historical Preservation Association and form the original core of the historical materials now housed in the Dublin Heritage Museum at 7100 Donlon Way in Dublin California. They have been digitized in order to provide broader 24/7 access to the rich historical record available on Dublin's history for students, teachers, local historians, business people, researchers and the Dublin community.
This project was part of the California Local History Digital Resources Project (LHDRP), a multi-year program supported by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian.
The project was a partnership between the City of Dublin Heritage Center and the Dublin branch of Alameda County Library. The Museum supplied the original photographs, the Library sent the photographs out for scanning by Northern Micrographics, reviewed the images for quality control and created metadata for 197 items.

It is the mission of the Dublin Heritage Center to collect, preserve and interpret the material culture of Dublin and provide a historical and cultural focal point that will enrich the community. The Dublin Heritage Center holds an archival collection that documents the history of Dublin California. These materials were collected over the years by the Dublin Historical Preservation Association and were officially deeded to the City of Dublin in 2003. Since then, the original collection has been augmented by other private donations, including materials from the estate of Donna Kolb Miller.
Image formats and processes represented in the collection include: daguerreotypes, numerous 19th and 20th century black and white print mediums, original negatives, documents, newspapers, and ephemera. There are approximately four hundred photographs, fifty newspapers and fifty documents within the collection. The collection includes original photographs of Dublin's founders, property deeds of early settlers, construction documents from the first public buildings, newspaper accounts of the City's incorporation. The scope is limited to primary materials that document the people, events, places and changes that effected Dublin over time.
