Description
The collection consists of manuscript and reproduction scores by composer Vic Mizzy for television series (including the Addams
Family and Green Acres), made-for-television movies, and films, as well as manuscript songs and published sheet music. Also
present are personal papers and correspondence, photographs, audiovisual material (especially audiotapes), books, and artifacts.
Background
Composer Vic Mizzy was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 9, 1916. He worked as a songwriter in New York for several decades
and moved to Los Angeles in 1963 to write music for television. Mizzy composed the themes and scores for the hit programs
The Addams Family, Green Acres, and other sitcoms and made-for-television movies. In addition, he wrote music for a number
of films including The Ghost and Mr. Chicken (1966), The Reluctant Astronaut (1967), and Don't Make Waves (1967). Mizzy also
contributed music to the Spider-Man 2 (2004) and Spider-Man 3 (2007) films. His first wife was the singer and radio personality
Mary Small. Vic Mizzy died in Los Angeles, California on October 17, 2009.
