Description
Broad selection of political posters created by the San Francisco Poster Syndicate, many of them printed and distributed at demonstrations and other events. Topics include a wide range of contemporary local, national and global issues. Among the major themes represented are immigration, climate change, the anti-fascist/anti-racist resistance movement directed at the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump, and homelessness in San Francisco.
Background
Hazelwood is a central collaborator of the San Francisco Poster Syndicate. From the organization's website: "The San Francisco Poster Syndicate grew out of the crisis around higher education - student debt and the abuse of adjunct faculty. We create and screen print original images, continuing the rich history of posters as a form of political messaging. We print the posters "live" at political actions, exhibitions, and on the street, giving away the work for free in order to target a variety of current social and economic justice issues. The Poster Syndicate is here to bring art and design to many different people's movements in hopes that their message can be heard and seen more loudly."
Extent
325 prints in 2 boxes and 22 oversize folders : chiefly silk screen on paper ; sheets various sizes
