Description
Collection consists of letters detailing mediation efforts from Hope's time on the National Labor Relations Board (including some on his work on a lumber strike and regarding a labor grievance from the Oregon Worsted Mills employees); correspondence and other documents relating to his appointment as director of the United States Relief and Rehabilitation Administration, Hangchow, China; some materials relating to Hope's World War Two service as an Army captain, some family photographs, and a (short) typewritten diary from his service in World War One.
Background
Charles W. Hope (1891-1971) was director of the United States Relief and Rehabilitation Administration, Hangchow, China in 1946 and Director of the National Labor Relations Board, 19th Region, Pacific Northwest States and Alaska from 1933 to 1938.
