Abstract:
J. Dudley Woodberry (b. 1934 - ) is considered one of the foremost Christian scholars on Islamic culture and religion. Dr.
Woodberry has served as consultant on the Mulsim world to President Carter, the U.S. State Department, USAID, and other U.S.
goverment agencies. He has also been an active part of the Zwemer Institute for Muslim Studies and has served as coordinator
and acting senior associate of the Muslim track of the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelism. While at Fuller Seminary,
Dr. Woodberry served as Dean of the Graduate School of World Mission (later renamed the Graduate School of Intercultural Studies)
from 1992-1999, and a senior professor of Islamic Studies.

Scope and Content of Collection
The Papers of Dr. J. Dudley Woodberry collection is filled with extensive research into the Muslim faith and how it relates
to and can relate to the Christian faith. Materials reflect Woodberry’s personal research efforts as well as those by his
students in Fuller Seminary’s MR555 Folk Islam courses. Topics cover Muslim popular piety, visions and dreams, Sufis, Qurani
healing and medicine, Kabbalah, and saint veneration. Some materials are associated with specific people groups in geographic
regions. Fuller Seminary administrative records involve MR555 Folk Islam course outlines, recommended bibliographies, and
Power Encounter course records. An extensive section covers an extensive analysis of spiritual conversions, with questionnaires
and data evaluation.
