Abstract: Lillian Poltere lived in Shanghai, and
attended the Shanghai American School, graduating in 1939. In 1940, she and her family
emigrated to the United States, where she eventually settled in San Diego. The collection
contains materials mostly related to Poltere's time at the Shanghai American School,
including commencement programs and photographs, a program for a play produced by the
school, copies of the school newspaper
The Shanghai American,
and other related newspaper clippings. Also included in the collection is Poltere's father's
curfew pass from the Shanghai Municipal Police, and pictorials from the
Shanghai Sunday Times and
The Sunday
Tribune.
