Abstract: San Diego County agencies update and file a Statement of Facts – Register of Public Agencies with the Secretary of State and the county clerk’s office whenever changes to their leadership occur in accordance with Government Code section 53051. Prior to 2019 the Register of Public Agencies was known as the Roster of Public Agencies. The collection includes forms from 1978-present.

Scope and Content of Collection

Statement of Facts – Register of Public Agencies (1978-9999) (known as the Roster of Public Agencies prior to 2019) consists of individual documents filed with the county clerk’s office. Government Code Section 53051 (a)requires the filing of this statement within 70 days of a new agency's legal formation and Government Code Section 53051 (b) requires the filing of amendments within 10 days of any changes. The Archives receives additions to this collection regularly. Records are preprinted forms and include the name of the agency, official mailing address, names, residential or business address for each member of the governing body, and the name, title, and residential or business address of the clerk or secretary of the board and presiding officer (chair, president, etc.). There is a separate form for each local agency. Examples include the San Diego County Office of Education, Pine Valley Sanitation District, County Service Areas, and De Luz Heights Municipal Water District. Forms are arranged chronologically by filing date.
